Final Report
The 8th edition of the International Conference
NEWCAS was held in Montreal, from June 20 to 23 under the
sponsorship of the IEEE CAS Society. This world class conference
was back in the province of Quebec after its first cross-ocean edition
last year, in Toulouse (France). This year, the conference was
organized by researchers from the Microsystems strategic alliance
of Quebec (ReSMiQ), Symposium on the information
and signal analog treatment and its applications (TAISA) and
the symposium Low-voltage-low- consumption (FTFC).
The wide spectrum of topics covered this year drew an important number of submissions
(193) from all over the world. These were classified and sent to 207 Technical
Committee members and examiners who conducted the evaluations. We are most grateful
for this valuable help, which raised the quality of NEWCAS to the high level expected by our
scientific community. The evaluation process has resulted in the selection of 101 papers
for oral presentations, posters and special sessions.
IEEE NEWCAS2010 featured several special sessions and presentations given by distinguished
speakers working in key areas of micro and nanotechnology research and we
hope that this conference provided all participants with a unique forum for exchanging
ideas and results. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all
members of the organizing committee, technical committee co-chairs, speakers, tutorial
lecturers, the so many reviewers, and our colleagues from TAISA and FTFC
for joining us making NEWCAS a successful event. Also thank to our sponsors and partners,
CMC Microsytems, UQAM Département d'informatique, Hardent Inc. DALSA and École
polytechnique for their involvement and participation in the success of NEWCAS2010.
We also thank the authors worldwide who have chosen to submit their contributions to
NEWCAS. It is mainly due to their important contributions that we have succeeded in
creating a high quality program. We believe that we have reached the goal of providing to
all of our colleagues a favourable environment to discuss
significant developments that will contribute to the evolution of our field. The social
program was carefully chosen to allow delegates to taste Montreal’s special charm, its rich
and colorful history, a city truly unique in North America whose beauty and hospitality of its
people give it a special place in the heart of all visitors.
The organizing committee of NEWCAS2011 is already hard at work preparing what will certainly be
a memorable event. NEWCAS is going back to France, to be held in Bordeaux from June 26 to 29, 2011
at the Mercure cité Mondiale Hotel, on the banks of the Garonne river. We hope to see
you again next year.
